JMeetups ("we," "us," "our," or "Company") is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience on our platform, while maintaining the safety and integrity of our community. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you visit and use our website, mobile application, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Service. By accessing and using JMeetups, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by all the provisions of this Privacy Policy.

Information You Provide Directly:

      Account Registration: Name, email address, phone number (optional), date of birth, gender, sexual orientation, location, and other profile information

      Profile Content: Photos, bio, relationship goals, interests, religious affiliation, education, occupation, and other personal details you choose to share

      Communications: Messages sent between users, emails to our support team, and feedback or survey responses

      Preferences: Search criteria, match preferences, notification settings, and other user preferences

      Payment Information: If applicable, billing address, payment method details (processed securely through third-party payment processors)

      Information Collected Automatically:

      • Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifier, mobile network information, and device settings
      • Usage Information: Pages viewed, features used, time spent on the Service, searches performed, profiles viewed, and matches made
      • Location Information: Approximate location based on IP address or GPS (with your permission on mobile devices)
      • Cookies and Tracking Technologies: Cookies, pixel tags, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to understand user behavior and improve the Service
      • Log Data: IP addresses, browser type, referring URLs, access times, and other server log data

      Message Logging and Monitoring Data:

      • Message Content: Full text of messages sent between users (encrypted at rest)
      • Message Metadata: Sender ID, recipient ID, timestamp, delivery status, read status, and message length
      • Monitoring Flags: Automated flagging status, violation type detected, human review status, and moderation actions taken
      • Reporting Data: User reports of messages, reported violation type, and investigation status

      3. How We Use Your Information

      We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

      Service Delivery

      To create and maintain your account, process transactions, and provide the core matching and messaging features

      Personalization

      To personalize your experience, show relevant matches, and provide recommendations based on your preferences

      To monitor, verify, and enforce compliance with our Terms of Service; to detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues; to review and approve user profiles; and to investigate disputes. This includes:

      • Manual review of user-reported messages and content, and review of photos before they are approved for display.
      • Preservation and investigation of messages related to suspected violations
      • Cooperation with law enforcement and regulatory authorities
      • Community safety analytics and abuse pattern detection

      Service Improvement

      To analyze how users interact with our Service, identify trends and preferences, improve features and functionality, and develop new products or services

      Legal Compliance

      To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, and court orders; to preserve evidence related to potential illegal activity; and to assist law enforcement

      Marketing and Analytics

      To conduct surveys, contests, and market research (with your consent); to analyze user demographics and preferences; and to measure advertising effectiveness


      4. How We Share Your Information

      Profile Visibility

      Your profile information is visible to other approved members of JMeetups. You can control the visibility of certain information through your privacy settings. Information visible to other members includes your photos, basic profile details, interests, and location (general area, not exact address).

      Service Providers

      We may share your information with third-party service providers who assist us in operating the Service, including:

      • Email service providers for sending emails and notifications
      • Payment processors for handling transactions
      • Cloud hosting providers for data storage and backup
      • Analytics providers for understanding user behavior
      • Customer support platforms for managing inquiries
      • Moderation and safety vendors for message analysis and flagging (where applicable)

      These service providers are contractually obligated to use your information only as necessary to provide the agreed-upon services and to maintain the confidentiality and security of your information.

      Legal Requirements and Law Enforcement

      We may disclose your information, including messages and communication logs, if:

      • Required by law, court order, subpoena, or valid legal process
      • A government agency or law enforcement makes a legal request
      • We reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to investigate, prevent, or address fraud, security issues, or other illegal activity
      • We detect evidence of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), human trafficking, or threats of imminent harm to individuals
      • We believe disclosure is necessary to protect the legal rights, safety, and property of JMeetups, our users, and the public

      Law Enforcement Requests: When we receive law enforcement requests, we will preserve relevant messages and account information and respond according to applicable law. We will notify users of requests unless prohibited by law.

      Business Transfers

      In the event of a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. You will be notified of any such change via email and/or notice on our website.

      Aggregated and De-identified Data

      We may share aggregated or de-identified data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you with third parties for research, marketing, analytics, and other purposes.

      Data We Do NOT Share

      JMeetups does NOT sell, trade, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We do not disclose your email address, phone number, financial information, or other sensitive data to other users or third parties without your explicit consent, except as required by law or as disclosed in this Privacy Policy.


      5. Data Retention

      Message Retention

      • Active Messages: Messages are retained in encrypted form on our servers for up to 90 days from the date sent
      • Deleted Messages: Messages deleted by users are purged from our primary systems within 30 days of deletion, except where:
        • A legal hold is in place due to law enforcement investigation, litigation, or regulatory inquiry
        • The account is flagged for illegal activity and messages are being preserved for investigation
        • Retention is required by applicable law or regulation
      • Legal Holds: Messages subject to legal holds will be retained for the duration of the hold and any related legal proceedings
      • Backup and Archives: For disaster recovery and business continuity purposes, messages may be retained in backup and archival systems for up to 1 year, with limited access restricted to authorized personnel

      Account and Profile Data

      We retain your account and profile information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account:

      • Your profile will be removed from public view within 24 hours
      • Your personal information will be deleted from our primary systems within 30 days, except where:
        • A legal hold is in place
        • Retention is required by law
        • Data is needed to resolve disputes or investigate violations
      • De-identified or anonymized data may be retained indefinitely for analytics and fraud prevention

      Law Enforcement Holds

      When law enforcement makes a valid request for information, we will preserve relevant data for the duration specified by the request and for any resulting investigation or legal proceeding. This may extend retention periods beyond normal policies.

      You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information at any time by contacting us at support@jmeetups.com. Please note that some information may be retained to comply with legal requirements, resolve disputes, investigate violations, or fulfill legitimate business purposes, including preservation for law enforcement.


      6. User Rights and Data Access

      General Rights

      • De-identified data used for safety analytics will not be deleted

      JMeetups is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 years of age.       11. Do Not Track Signals

      Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" feature. Currently, there is no industry standard for recognizing Do Not Track signals. JMeetups does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals, but we provide you with various privacy choices as described in this Privacy Policy.


      12. International Data Transfers

      If you are located outside the United States, please note that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States. The data protection laws of the United States may not be as comprehensive as those in your country. By using JMeetups, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and processing in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
